Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 24, 2026
1. Overview
BatchImage Studio is a native Windows desktop application built for local-first image processing. All image operations — compressing, resizing, converting, cropping, watermarking, and AI background removal — happen entirely on your device. No image files are ever uploaded to any server.
This Privacy Policy explains the limited data that is transmitted when you use the application, and how that data is handled.
2. Data Processing — Your Images
Your image files are read from and written to your local filesystem. They are processed entirely within your machine's RAM and CPU. At no point during image processing does any file, byte, or metadata leave your device. The application does not include any analytics, telemetry, or tracking that would capture your images or their contents.
3. Data We Do Collect
BatchImage Studio makes a small number of network requests for specific, limited purposes:
License Activation
When you activate your license key, the application sends the following to our Supabase backend for verification:
- Your license key (formatted with dashes)
- A hardware identifier (SHA-256 hash of your motherboard serial number and CPU processor ID)
- Your computer's machine name
This data is used solely to verify that your license is valid, to track activation limits, and to detect revoked keys. The hardware identifier is a one-way hash — it cannot be reversed to reveal your actual hardware serial numbers.
Periodic License Check
While the application is running, it performs a background license status check approximately once per hour. This request sends your license key and hardware identifier to verify that the key has not been revoked. If the check fails (e.g., no internet connection), the application continues to function normally.
Update Check
On startup, the application queries our backend to check whether a newer version is available. This request does not transmit any personal data — only the current app version is compared against the latest published version.
4. Third-Party Services
Gumroad (Payments)
Licenses are sold through Gumroad. When you make a purchase, Gumroad collects payment information (credit card details, email address) under their own privacy policy. BatchImage Studio does not receive or store your payment details. See: Gumroad Privacy Policy.
Supabase (License Backend)
License verification and activation are handled through Supabase (a hosted PostgreSQL service). The data stored includes your license key, hardware identifier hash, machine name, and activation count. Supabase processes this data under their own privacy policy. See: Supabase Privacy Policy.
FormSubmit (Contact Form)
The contact form on our landing page uses FormSubmit to deliver messages to the developer's email. FormSubmit processes your name, email address, and message content. See: FormSubmit Privacy Policy.
GitHub (Releases)
Application downloads are hosted on GitHub Releases. GitHub may collect standard server logs (IP address, user agent) when you download a file. See: GitHub Privacy Statement.
5. Local Data Storage
The application stores the following data locally on your Windows machine (in
%LOCALAPPDATA%\BatchImageStudio\):
- Application settings (output folder, quality defaults, format preferences, accent color, etc.)
- License key and hardware identifier (for offline activation)
- Operation history (file paths, timestamps, processing results)
- Image presets (saved configuration profiles)
All of this data remains on your device. It is never transmitted anywhere unless you explicitly export your settings to a file or submit a support ticket that includes an attachment.
6. Cookies and Tracking
BatchImage Studio is a desktop application and does not use cookies, web beacons, pixels, or any form of advertising or analytics tracking. The landing page (batchimagestudio.com) uses only essential third-party scripts (Tailwind CSS, Lucide icons, Gumroad checkout widget) and does not set cookies or run analytics.
7. Children's Privacy
BatchImage Studio is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of the application after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
9. Contact
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how your data is handled, please contact the developer through the support form or via the email provided in the application's About section.
